In addition to being the IBM Program Director for the Columbia-IBM Center for Blockchain and Data Transparency, Tania was recently appointed the North America Leader for IBM Global University Programs. Its mission is to foster relationships with academia to deliver programs that resonate with the needs of today’s student and aligns with today’s job market skills needs.
In her former role as manager, she was responsible for the restructuring of IBM Global University Programs to better serve the needs of academia today.
She brings 20 years of IBM experience in change management and deep HR knowledge creating transformational programs that deliver HR solutions to business problems. Tania’s background brings a unique and holistic view of opportunities to the Center.
Deepra Yusuf has joined Columbia University as the Director of Strategy and Operations for the Columbia University-IBM Center for Blockchain and Data Transparency. The Center, which was launched in July 2018, is jointly administered by Columbia Engineering and the Data Science Institute.
Deepra joins the Center from Columbia Technology Ventures where she was the Operations Director of Cyber NYC Inventors to Founders. Deepra received her Master’s in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School. Prior to that Deepra worked as a fair lending compliance analyst for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Deepra brings with her a strong background in algorithmic fairness. Most recently, Deepra co-authored automating.nyc — a website that evaluates the ethical use of algorithmic systems so that NYC citizens understand how algorithms are used by city government. The website focuses on equity and justice within automated decision systems while de-mystifying complex technical jargon.
